My father, Han Pao-teh, lived his life as a true academic. His scholarly influence spanned many fields. He was an educator, architect, FengShui specialist, writer, columnist, museum curator, calligrapher, art collector, and advocate for art education.

We are thankful to his student, the renowned architect Kris Yao, for the donation of his design for this museum. Mr. Yao created a space of peace and serenity. As we walk along the steps of life, we reflect and meditate from within, then outward, turning onto the suspended steps, and into the world of Han Pao-teh; a cube suspended within a cube. The exhibition is designed around the different periods of Han Pao-teh's life, corresponding to his notable contributions.

My late brother, Joseph Han, and I have donated this museum not only to memorialize my father, but also to provide faculty and students a space to present their projects, share, debate, and learn from each other. This is much the same way my father taught his students at Tunghai. From Han Pao-teh's collection, we have donated hundreds of objects and over three thousand volumes of books to be used for rotation in the permanent exhibition. Beyond this, it is our real hope that the students and faculty will use these in their academic and research endeavors. We believe this is the best way to remember my father.
